To support food security, the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) is coordinating with the Agriculture Service regarding the Agricultural Census (ST) which will be held in June-July. Considering that the agriculture service is a government agency that is involved in agriculture, the head of BPS and the person in charge of this activity visited the office.
The agricultural census is conducted every 10 years, this year's ST subsector not only records agriculture but also animal husbandry, fisheries, forestry, ornamental plant cultivation, horticulture, medicinal plants and agricultural services.
According to Presidential Decree Number 39 of 2019 concerning One Indonesian Data, the data that should be in sync between the agriculture service and BPS is land area. So far, there are still differences at the central to regional levels. The agriculture service has farm assistants, the BPS also has a statistical partner who records regional agricultural products; corn, rice. At bps measuring land area and rice production with KSA technology (area sample frame); whose method is by photographing agricultural land with satellite imagery and confirmed by statistical partners in the field by tagging whether it is agricultural land or not. Then the production quantity is obtained from doing tiling which is done regularly.
From the results of the land area and production, the rice productivity figures can be obtained, if there is a difference in the multiplier it will produce a different productivity (if the land area from the BPS and the Agriculture Service is not the same). The production figures will play an important role in controlling rice and other agricultural commodities. For the sake of data integration later, the agricultural census will become an agricultural database that will start one agricultural data for Nabire.
For information, the current census aims to improve complete data on farmers in Indonesia. After obtaining the profiles of farmers, the impact will be to collect good and complete data on farmers which can be used to formulate government policies. In addition, this census can improve the welfare of farmers, especially in Nabire district.
Finally, it is hoped that the agricultural census will be able to eliminate duplication of data related to agriculture and food which is often a problem in Indonesia which has an impact on the community and farmers.
The agricultural service is ready to assist the smooth running of the agricultural census down to the village level (agricultural extension workers for each region).
